Attract Literary Tourists

Dylan and Caitlin Thomas’s Boathouse, Laugharne, Wales.

I’ve spent most of my career in the communications business and bring years of experience in, and passion for, creating successful editorial content campaigns. Currently I’m

  • A writer who specializes in literary journalism
  • A travel blogger
  • The host of a popular podcast on books
  • A seasoned content creator, and
  • A cultural tourism marketing consultant.

When you hire me, you get all of the above.

My literary features and book reviews have appeared in, among other places, The Washington Post, The Toronto Globe and Mail, The Guardian, LOGOS, CNQ, Canadian Bookseller magazine, and Canadian Art magazine. As host of The Biblio File ( ) I have had the privilege of interviewing these authors: Alaa Al Aswany, Jane Urquhart, Donald Antrim, Alberto Manguel, Nadeem Aslam, Margaret Atwood, Sjón, Derek Walcott, Alice Notley, Tim Winton, David Mitchell, Gillian Clarke, Edward Rutherfurd, Adam Gopnik, Ha Jin, Yann Martel, Amitav Ghosh, Rawi Hage, Junot Diaz, Larry McMurtry, Miriam Toews, Madeleine Thien, Robert Fulford, Tim Parks and Ivan Klima and hundreds more.

As a tourism marketing consultant, I specialize in seeking out, promoting and evaluating literary ‘places to go’ and ‘things to do’ in locations around the world.

During the course of my travels I’ve visited hundreds of cultural and literary destinations, and attended, blogged about, and interviewed speakers at many literary events, conferences and festivals.

I work with tourism marketers to help them attract literary and cultural tourists.I visit their destinations and blog about the interesting literary things I find. My starting point is an intensive encounter with the city or place, to absorb an impression and gather a literary image library. I then research – everything about the city related to books and authors – write about, and interview people connected with local literary attractions and events, and produce blog posts and podcast episodes.

My writing, podcasts and photographs tell genuine, meaningful stories that communicate and promote memorable experiences in a signature fashion, with feeling and force. Each blog post, article, interview and image conveys something interesting and useful about the destinations and events that I cover.

At, you’ll find original and entertaining written, visual and audio content that caters to an audience of book and travel lovers predominantly from the English speaking world. My content is targeted at well-educated travellers who seek informative, intellectually stimulating getaways. Here’s content I produced for Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism and Visit Wales.

In addition to content, I produce literary audit and feedback reports that contain qualitative evaluations of experiences gained by visiting destinations and attending events. What worked, what didn’t, and what can be done to make things better.
