WORK WITH NIGEL
Collaborate with
a Curious Mind
I’ve built a life around books, travel, and conversation. Now I help others bring their stories to life. From showcasing a city’s literary culture to sharing advice on the art of meaningful dialogue, to delivering talks on biblio tourism and presentations on the practice of magazine collecting - this is where biblio collaborations happen - where ideas combine to make and celebrate monuments of lasting literary importance
Talking Books
As Speaker or One-on-One
As host of The Biblio File Podcast, I’ve had the privilege, during the past twenty years, of traveling the world talking with many of the today’s most fascinating people — Margaret Atwood, David Mitchell, John Galassi, Derek Walcott, James Wood, Alice Notley, John Banville, Martin Amis, Nigel Newton and many, many more. Over the years I’ve logged 650+ interviews.
What I’ve learned is that great conversation doesn’t just happen by chance In my case it’s initiated through admiration, it requires close reading and research; good rapport; listening, honest reaction and, to make it interesting, constructive disagreement.
Much of the content of these interviews revolves around the roles played by the people I talk with. The roles I play include:
Author interviewer, Literary-Biblio Tourist, Bibliophile, Book Club Host, and Collector.
I give talks, and provide coaching, in all of these areas. Speech topics include:
The Art of the Author Interview
The Art of Conversation
The Practice of Literary Biblio Tourism
My Experience as a Collector
How to be a Bibliophile

Words on
Books & Travel
Written, spoken Biblio intelligence
I’ve been writing and talking about the art and commerce of books for decades — visiting and sketching cities - drawing out the literary; entertaining listeners; guiding readers through conversations that go beyond summary and into the heart of what stories mean. My goal is always the same: to help people learn - make them think, laugh, and fall a little more in love with the written word - in groups, on the page, at events - I work with literary and travel organizations to help them promote and emphasize what’s literally extraordinary
Let’s design an experience that your community won’t forget — one that blends intellectual depth with genuine human connection.

Literary Tourism
Partnerships
Celebrate Your City, conduct a Literary Tourist Audit
Every city tells a story — though its bookshops, libraries, festivals, and literary landmarks. As the Literary Tourist, I collaborate with tourism boards and cultural organizations, literary festivals and writers workshops, around the world to spotlight the places where literature lives and breathes.
From Tokyo’s hidden design bookstores to Wales’ lyrical landscapes, Prague’s writing workshops to Peterborough, Ontario’s Parrs, I help cities and attractions discover and promote their literary assets by walking the streets, and creating written and visual stories that draw curious travelers and readers to their destinations — blending journalism, photography, and authentic literary exploration.
From promotional features to full fledged biblio audits, if your goal is to position your city or attraction as a place for culture lovers and bibliophiles to visit, let’s create something that celebrates its literary soul.
