As host of The Biblio File Podcast, I’ve had the privilege, during the past twenty years, of traveling the world talking with many of the today’s most fascinating people — Margaret Atwood, David Mitchell, John Galassi, Derek Walcott, James Wood, Alice Notley, John Banville, Martin Amis, Nigel Newton and many, many more. Over the years I’ve logged 650+ interviews.
What I’ve learned is that great conversation doesn’t just happen by chance In my case it’s initiated through admiration, it requires close reading and research; good rapport; listening, honest reaction and, to make it interesting, constructive disagreement.
Much of the content of these interviews revolves around the roles played by the people I talk with. The roles I play include:

From Tokyo’s hidden design bookstores to Wales’ lyrical landscapes, Prague’s writing workshops to Peterborough, Ontario’s Parrs, I help cities and attractions discover and promote their literary assets by walking the streets, and creating written and visual stories that draw curious travelers and readers to their destinations — blending journalism, photography, and authentic literary exploration.
